Some related celebrities are pretty obvious: the Olsen twins, Venus and Serena Williams, the Hanson brothers (yes, remember Hanson?).

But there are other famous folks with equally famous relatives you may not believe are related. Keep reading to find out some surprising combinations of celebs who happen to be kin.

HALLE BERRY AND SARAH PALIN

In an interview with Extra TV, the Academy Award-winning actress said that somehow, she and the politician are related.

“You want to know who I’m related to? Sarah Palin!” Berry told Extra TV. “In some twisted way. Somebody sent me this information that she was my distant [relative].”

We are mildly skeptical that this is entirely accurate, given Berry’s proof of relation is “somebody sent me this information,” although if you look closely you can kind of see the resemblance, can’t you?

ZOOEY DESCHANEL AND EMILY DESCHANEL

Zooey Deschanel and her older sister, Emily, have both found fame in acting. Each sister has starred in separate hit TV shows: Zooey in “New Girl,” and Emily in “Bones.”

The Deschanel sisters grew up in L.A., and both of their parents worked in show business. In addition to acting, Zooey is a singer and was the co-founder of the media site HelloGiggles. Emily is married to David Hornsby from “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” and they have two kids. Zooey is married to film producer Jacob Pechenik and they, too, have two children.

KATE MIDDLETON AND ELLE AND DAKOTA FANNING

In 2014, genealogy site Ancestry.com revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge and the Fanning sisters are distant relatives of King Edward I who reigned back in the 13th century. Who knew Dakota, the little girl the world fell in love with in “I Am Sam” and “Charlotte’s Web” and her little sister, Elle, had ties to modern-day royalty?

Fun fact: Elle actually played the younger version of Dakota’s character, Lucy, in “I Am Sam.” Dakota was just 7 during filming, and Elle was 3.

KATE HUDSON AND GOLDIE HAWN

OK, fine. You probably already knew this dynamic mother-daughter duo were related. It’s tough not to see the resemblance between these two actresses.

Kate and her older brother, Oliver, consider their mom’s longtime life partner, Kurt Russell to be their father. Their biological father, Bill Hudson, wasn’t active in their lives after he and Hawn split up (Kate was just 18 months old when they divorced).

DIANA ROSS AND EVAN ROSS

Actor and singer Evan Ross is the son of the iconic Diana Ross. He’s been open about how he and his mom share a close bond (so close she evidently was there when Ashlee Simpson gave birth to her granddaughter!). How cute!

FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA AND NICOLAS CAGE

Nicolas Cage may have made a name for himself without the help of his family, but he has some very important ties. He’s the nephew of Francis Ford Coppola, who directed a little film you may have heard of called “The Godfather.”
